High cholesterol isn't the only enemy of heart health

Cardiovascular issues are the #1 cause of health concern in America. It is also know as the silent killer. Cardiovascular illness is unknown until symptoms occur such as headaches as a reflection of very high blood pressure or you suffer a stroke or heart attack. Going for regular check ups from your physician will help you keep a vigilant eye on how your doing. physician during your annual physical. With millions of baby-boomers entering their fifties and sixties, there is an increasing demand for a better, easier and natural way to improve and protect heart health.

Those tasty high-fat and cholesterol rich foods Americans love can create unhealthy cholesterol that is harmful to the heart, especially as we age. OTC products flood the market claiming to reduce cholesterol without side effects. The problem with these products may have side effects and may not even address another problem known as cholesterol lipid peroxidation. This is a process which free radicals cause structural damage to the cholesterol in your body making them even more harmful to your heart and arteries.

The best way to treat elevated cholesterol is take medication prescribed by your physician, get lab values checked as needed, usually the liver profile as these drugs are metabolized through the liver pathway and follow a heart healthy diet.

Aging, our environment, dietary and lifestyle choices cause free radicals that cannot be avoided. Left unchecked, they can turn healthy cholesterol levels into unhealthy cholesterol levels.

Be smart, be kind to your heart.

Living a healthy lifestyle

Maintaining a healthy weight can be very easy and it is just every day life for some people. Choosing healthy foods and knowing which foods to eat in moderation helps maintain health and wellness.
By being in tune to your body you are already ahead of the pursuit of living a healthy lifestyle. This is not to say that you are immune to illness, your not. There are constant biochemical changes going on inside our bodies. The delicate synergistic internal environment can be thrown off anytime from environmental pollution to something you ingested to picking up a contaminant in public.

Obesity is an epidemic. Childhood obesity is on the rise. America’s health issues remain problematic with 32 percent of people facing obesity-related problems and USA ranking near the top with the highest rate of child obesity cases. In an attempt to combat the obesity epidemic, America has resorted to increasingly aggressive campaigns - such as this one pictured that ran in Atlanta.

n obese girl pictured in the health campaign advertisement on January 10, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. An aggressive health campaign is sparking controversy because it features pictures of real obese children and direct messages about weight loss. The ads are part of a strategy by health professionals at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and urge the public in Georgia, USA, to take a tougher stance on weight issues in youngsters. In one Storng4life campaign poster a girl appears with crossed arms above a message stating: WARNING. Its hard to be a little girl if youre not. Another, below a picture of a boy, reads: 'Fat prevention begins at home. And the buffet line.' The ultra-direct scheme has been defended by Linda Matzigkeit, a senior vice president at the paediatric service, which has faced criticism with some describing the public notices as using guerilla tactics. Teen Maya Walters suffers from high blood pressure and is said to have cut back on salt and feels less breathless when climbing stairs, since appearing in the campaign. Georgia state has the second-highest childhood obesity rate in America. Choa/Barcroft USA /Barcoft Media via Getty

Not funny. Not cute. No excuses for allowing our children become oversized. To learn about the obesity epidemic refer to www.cdc.gov/obesity/childhood/index.html

Adults who lived their childhood obese and are currently living with obesity or struggling to keep the excess fat off, you are an ideal candidate for weight loss counseling. You must make a valiant effort to learn how to eat so you can teach your children proper nutrition. By that I mean how much to eat in one sitting, when to eat vs. when not to eat, which foods to eat in combination and reasons why your eating. For example. stress eating or boredom eating is a poor reason to eat. Eating for those reasons you tend to consume large quantities of high fat, high sodium, high carbohydrate food. To some people these foods are called "comfort foods". Once you learn proper nutrition, you will be able to achieve fullness without overindulging.

Break the fat family cycle. Contact a nutritionist or a registered dietitian to help you learn proper nutrition and caloric consumption. You will learn which foods are fat attracting and which are fat burning. Choosing a healthy lifestyle is a commitment to your health. It is work and takes time. After working through the daily struggles and meeting weight loss goals, do everything you can to keep excess fat off. Teach your kids the same.

Cosmetic surgery is a quick fix to lose the stretched out skin bag and tighten up body parts. Your surgeon has done his part by enhancing your new body so continue to do your part by following a healthy diet and incorporating exercise in to your daily routine. Telling yourself "I've always been fat" is preventing you from putting a weight loss plan in place and sticking to it.

Feel good helping your body help you.

Pet rescue vs. over priced designer dogs

A designer dog is a dog intentionally bred for desirable traits. These dogs are a hybrid of 2 purebreds. They are given fancy breed names that end in oodle or poo. The designer dogs are not a pedigree and are not recognized breeds by the AKC. People are under the assumption the designer dog doesn't have the health problems or shedding issues the pedigrees and mixed-breed have. Well, no matter how good your top rated breeder may be, you cannot breed away health problems.

If 1 designer dog doesn't have a common health problem the breeds it came from has, does not mean he/she won't develop any health problems. Hybrid dogs can still have genetic anomalies.

People pay a lot of money sometimes as high as $1200.00 and even higher for a so-called designer dog. People make themselves believe their getting a hypo-allergenic, non-problematic, 100% healthy dog for the next 20 years. Bottom line, those buying a designer dog are paying top dollar for a mixed breed.

Just a thought, wouldn't it make  financial and ethical sense by adopting a mixed-breed that is easily found at a shelter? The money you spend on 1 designer dog could help spay/neuter, provide food, vaccines and save the life of several sheltered animals.

By adopting a dog from a rescue facility you are saving the animal's life. You are removing the animal from a cold, smelly shelter and bringing him to a warm, loving home. Through the adoption process you are providing more space for another homeless, unwanted dog. In essence, you are helping save 2 lives.

Unfortunately we live in a society who disposes dogs like old toasters when they don't behave they way we them to or financial issues arise or a new baby joins the family.
Suddenly people need to make changes that are more suitable for them so the first to go is the family dog. If you are family planning and there is talk, complaints, arguments over who is going to take care of the dog, my advice is to go no further, DO NOT OWN A DOG.

We don't discard our children when crisis' arise but we find it acceptable to discard the dog. Dogs are not to be disposed of. They are living creatures.

All those potential dog owners, please make sure you can provide a stable home for your new pet and put your money where the most good it will do, your local animal shelter.

Advanced Directives

Advance directives are legal documents that allow people to communicate their decisions to health care providers so they know what kind of medical care he or she wants at the end of life. Advance directives communicates medical care to family and health care professionals in the event that they are unable to make those decisions themselves.  The two main types of advance directives are living wills and a medical power of attorney.

Advance directives should be filled out while people are healthy and of sound mind. It allows them to think about what exactly they want and discuss with family members their wishes. You have the right to make decisions about your own treatment.

When diagnosed with a terminal illness or involved in a near fatal accident, people get scared and want to try every drug or treatment possible, even when the risks far outweigh the benefits. Making life decisions in a frantic state of mind is detrimental and elevates an already emotionally stressful situation. Choices about end-of-life care are difficult to make even when people are healthy. This is exactly the reason why such important decisions must be made while in a healthy state of mind.

The documents are easy to fill out and you may do so on your own. The following are just a few websites you may use as resources to aid you in completing the state appropriate forms.

www.caringinfo.org; www.americanbar.org; www.myhealthcarewishes.com

Death is a topic no one likes to discuss, but death is inevitable. Take time, pre-plan and give yourself peace of mind.

Current Ebola Outbreak

Ebola is not transmitted through the air like the Flu virus. The Ebola virus is very weak outside of the host and dies quickly on surfaces. A bleach solution will kill the virus and so will soap and water. As with any other virus, Ebola can evolve by changing it's protein, thereby making the virus more virulent and highly transmittable.

Should the Ebola virus mutate and becomes airborne like the Flu virus, a pandemic will likely occur. There is no vaccine to prevent Ebola.

You are more likely to get into a car accident on the way to the store than you are if sitting next an Ebola infected individual on an airplane.

At this point, the spread of Ebola is through direct contact with bodily fluids of an infected patient. Vomit, diarrhea, blood, urine carry the highest amount of the virus thereby making the fluids highly infectious. Reason said due to the large volume of fluids. Larger volumes house larger amounts of the virus.

So, what to do. Don't place your hands in vomit, diarrhea, blood, or urine then touch your eyes, nose, mouth or don't touch an open wound. Parents, tell your kids the same. Use a hand sanitizer after touching public surfaces. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.

The more you know.

Annuities

What is an annuity? An annuity is an insurance contract that allows the owner to accumulate funds on a tax-deferred basis and take distribution when desired. The benefit of an annuity is that it provides income you cannot outlive. This is a simple way to distribute your estate directly to a beneficiary.

There are several types of annuities.
A flexible premium deferred annuity is one that accumulates tax-deferred earnings for your future at competitive interest rates. The flexible payment schedule allows for future contributions. FPDA can also be used to fund an IRA. The tax begins when you start withdrawing. Keep in mind, you will pay tax according to your age bracket.

Single premium deferred annuity is when you decide a one, three, or five year guarantee period will work best for you. Your account then locks in at the interest rate available for that guarantee period.
A SPDA is ideal for people with accumulated assets to invest. A SPDA is a one-time premium payment with a guaranteed interest rate. Tax is deferred until you begin withdrawals.

Single premium immediate annuity offers stable protection and provides immediate income. A SPIA is ideal for people wishing to liquidate accumulated assets, can be used for retirement and can provide payments covering two lives.

Whether you decide on a annuity or life insurance a licensed, experienced insurance representative is available for your financial planning needs.

Skin health

Smoking and excessive exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays cause rough, dehydrated skin. The water reserves needed to maintain nourishment of the deepest layers of the skin diminishes while collagen fibers weaken and break. The UV rays create an increase in melanocytes causing freckles, darkened and discolored skin.

Over time skin becomes dehydrated and less pliable. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Specific care is needed to ensure healthy skin integrity.

Although the picture seen here is a mannequin, the artist was able to capture a true likeness of what can and does happen to the skin with a lifetime of smoking and excessive sun exposure.

Motion

The human body is designed for movement. The joints allow motion to occur. Joints are freely movable when adequately hydrated and muscles relaxed. There is an absence of inflammatory cells when the joints move the way they are designed. Simply stated, a body in motion stays in motion.

Lack of joint movement causes inflammation, stiff, achy joints and pain upon movement. Simply put, a body at rest stays at rest. The less you do the less your body will do. Smoking, over eating, ingesting high fat, high sodium, high sugar foods, lack of exercise will cause the body to be sluggish. Therefore causing stiff, achy joints. The more sedentary the body is the more likely inflammation occurs. Demand something of your body or your body will demand of less of you.

By ignoring your health, your health will eventually go away. So will you.
Take an interest in your health.

What is Cancer? What goes wrong?

Any living creature- from homo sabians  to our beloved pets can be afflicted with cancer. Cancer can show up on any internal organ and outside on the skin. There is damage to the genes that control cell division and growth. Cells become cancerous as a result of mutations. Cancer is not an infection.

No two cancers are alike. Your cancer is unique to you. It's your cells that become corrupt during the division process. The drugs available to treat cancer are mass produced to cover a blanket of cancers. Which is why some people may not be "cured" . They don't respond as  favorable as others may. Ca cells are corrupt and vulnerable and cannot ward off virus's like normal cells.

Genetic damage accumulates over time which is why you see many cancers develop later in life. Environmental pollutants, hereditary factors, exposure to radiation and cigarette smoke will cause mutations. Cancerous cells grow into abnormal tissues  known as masses.
When cancer cells spread through the body this is called metastasis. Any kind of cell can become cancerous. No one is immune.

Life Insurance is a must have

Final expense insurance is life insurance with a specific need. Final expenses largely make up funeral expenses. Your funeral is the very last expense you will incur. Having the money readily available to your family is part of estate planning. Final expense programs are estate planning.

Today you are in the best of health you will be. Purchasing now will qualify you for the best rate available at your current age. Life insurance is the least expensive insurance and offers the most value added benefit. If you are on a fixed income, chances are your beneficiary is too. Life insurance is protecting the beneficiary from financial catastrophe.

Life insurance is different than pre-need plans offered by funeral homes. Case scenario:  you purchase a life insurance policy with a face value of $10,000.  After only 1 premium payment, you become a victim of a fatal car accident or suffer a fatal cardiac arrest. The full value of $10,000 is available immediately to your beneficiary. The policy you took out in your estate planning is ready to be put to work. You have protected your beneficiary from facing a financial crisis.

Now, lets look at a pre-need plan. During your meeting with your funeral director he sells you a $10,000 pre-need plan with a monthly premium of for example, $54.00. After only 1 premium payment you become a victim in a fatal car accident or suffer a sudden cardiac arrest. Your beneficiary is now responsible for paying $9,946.00 plus any and all accrued interest. Funeral homes are in the business to make money. They provide a service for a fee paid by you, the consumer. They will demand payment or provide a less desirable and cheapest funeral with whatever funds you can spare. If your family is cash strapped, where will that money come from? If you have outstanding bills that need to be paid, where will your beneficiary get that money? You have created a full financial crisis for your loved ones that they may never financially recover from.

Procrastinating just adds to higher premium payments and not being prepared. Death does not wait. It is going to happen.  Funeral expenses are at an all time high and are expected to increase. Say you have enough money in the bank to cover a $10,000 funeral bill. In the interim, you suffer from a debilitating car accident or a mild heart attack. Your major medical insurance will pay the doctor and hospital, but you will have co-pays, prescription, fuel and household bills to pay. If you are on a limited income, you will burn through that $10,000 bank account. Leaving you with not enough money to pay funeral expenses when the time comes. By proscratinating, you have gained nothing.

Estate planning is simple and easy to do. Just take the time and do it.

Insurance has a place in life

Why have it?  If you have a family who depends on your paycheck for financial survival, then that is the foremost reason why you should have it. You are protecting your family's financial health after your death. The life insurance proceeds are transferred to your family tax free. The life insurance company you don't like and complain about will suddenly be loved once your family receives their check upon your death.

Your family will be able to pay death related expenses in addition to current and future bills. Life insurance allows you to invest in protection for very little cost. It is the least expensive, value added insurance available. There is no one reason for anyone to go without it. Premiums are low cost and those on a fixed budget can afford it.

Who else should have it? Anyone who is breathing. The need for life insurance is there. Someone will be burdened by the cost of your death. Having a life policy in place, even a low face amount just to cover death related expenses, is sufficient. The time to buy a life policy is now. Today is the youngest and healthiest you will be. Locking in premiums at your current age and before your next birthday, will ensure you are getting the lowest price possible.

The age of discussing death as a taboo topic is over. Procrastinating and denying own mortality is costly to everyone. By failing to prepare you a preparing to fail.

Healthy sun-kissed glow. Or is it?

No doubt the warmth of the sun does feel good to us. The glow it provides to the skin does look healthy in the short term. With that said, significance of short term doesn't matter. It is the long term that has the most significant  effect on your skin.  When the short term, aesthetic effect of the healthy glow is gone, will you see the damaged skin left behind. Exposure to sun causes dryness, wrinkles and age spots on our faces. Using the appropriate sun block protection and limiting sun-exposure on a daily basis is key to maintaining a youthful, true healthy glow to the face. Dryness, freckles and wrinkles pave the way to looking older than what you are.

We falsely associate a sun kissed glowing complexion with good health. But in reality, the tan that your seeing is skin damage. The sun's UV rays penetrate the skin damaging not only the top layer of skin but the deep fibers in the skin called elastin and collagen. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, cause lines, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. This damage is irreversible. The skin bruises more easily taking longer to heal. Sun damage also causes
the dilation of small blood vessels under the skin.

Recently the FDA elevated tanning booths: I prefer to call them tanning coffins, from a low to moderate risk of causing skin cancer to moderate to high risk of causing skin cancer. Going to the tanning salon to get a base tan isn't any safer than going outside for a natural tan. You are just unwisely overdosing on UV rays. As you age, the sun damaged skin will definitely show later in life. What you do today determines your health later in life.

Walking to the car and driving in the car exposes your skin to enough UV rays to cause damage. Applying sun block year round will limit the amount of UV rays penetrating the skin.
If you spend a great deal of time outside during peak hours, you are at risk of the suns damaging effects. It is wise to use sun block, wear long sleeve shirts and a hat. Re-apply sun block as needed.

Taking time to care for your skin is part of living a healthy lifestyle.

Hyperhidorsis. What is it?

If you experience excessive sweating this is called  hyperhidrosis.  In individuals with hyperhidrosis, the autonomic stimulation of sweat glands are hyperactive. Perspiration is controlled by the autonomic nervous system and it is a normal bodily function. The autonomic nervous system is located in the brain that controls the involuntary movement of the body. Movements we have no conscious control over.

We have sweat glands widely dispersed throughout the body. But a great deal more under the breasts, hands, groin, armpits, genital area and feet. Which explains why we sweat more in those areas. Facial blushing is also a symptom of hyperhidrosis. Perspiring is a normal physiologic response of the body when the core body temperature rises. Perspiring is the body's way of cooling down it's core temperature. Stressful situations will stimulate the autonomic nervous system which increases sweat production by the glands in highly concentrated areas, such as in the hands.

For most people, perspiring is not a problem. However, in individuals with hyperhidrosis the autonomic nervous system in response to stress is hyperactive. For these individuals, shaking someone's hand can be embarrassing. The physiologic response of the autonomic nervous system to exercise or high temperature is normal. It is estimated 1% of adults suffer from hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating begins in childhood and increases in severity into adulthood. Both men and women are affected equally.

Usually symptoms are mild and not disabling. Sweaty palms is the most common manifestation and the most socially disturbing. This can psychologically impact the person's ability to interact effectively in social situations. Hyperhidrosis can also have embarrassing effects with your partner in intimate situations.

If are experiencing excessive sweating even under normal circumstances, you can seed help from a Dermatologist. There are creams, antiperspirants, etc to help treat the symptoms.

The increasing size of waistlines

Article taken directly from MSN.com

LONDON (AP) — Almost a third of the world is now fat, and no country has been able to curb obesity rates in the last three decades, according to a new global analysis.

Researchers found more than 2 billion people worldwide are now overweight or obese. The highest rates were in the Middle East and North Africa, where nearly 60 percent of men and 65 percent of women are heavy. The U.S. has about 13 percent of the world's fat population, a greater percentage than any other country. China and India combined have about 15 percent.

"It's pretty grim," said Christopher Murray of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, who led the study. He and colleagues reviewed more than 1,700 studies covering 188 countries from 1980 to 2013. "When we realized that not a single country has had a significant decline in obesity, that tells you how hard a challenge this is."
30 percent of world is now fat, no country immuneAP Photo: Kirsty Wigglesworth, FILE
In this file photo dated Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, an overweight person eats in London,

Murray said there was a strong link between income and obesity; as people get richer, their waistlines also tend to start bulging. He said scientists have noticed accompanying spikes in diabetes and that rates of cancers linked to weight, like pancreatic cancer, are also rising.
The new report was paid for by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and published online Thursday in the journal, Lancet.

Last week, the World Health Organization established a high-level commission tasked with ending childhood obesity.

"Our children are getting fatter," Dr. Margaret Chan, WHO's director-general, said bluntly during a speech at the agency's annual meeting in Geneva. "Parts of the world are quite literally eating themselves to death." Earlier this year, WHO said that no more than 5 percent of your daily calories should come from sugar.

"Modernization has not been good for health," said Syed Shah, an obesity expert at United Arab Emirates University, who found obesity rates have jumped five times in the last 20 years even in a handful of remote Himalayan villages in Pakistan. His research was presented this week at a conference in Bulgaria. "Years ago, people had to walk for hours if they wanted to make a phone call," he said. "Now everyone has a cellphone."

Overweight total tops 2.1bn globally

Overweight total tops 2.1bn globally

Shah also said the villagers no longer have to rely on their own farms for food.
"There are roads for (companies) to bring in their processed foods and the people don't have to slaughter their own animals for meat and oil," he said. "No one knew about Coke and Pepsi 20 years ago. Now it's everywhere."

In Britain, the independent health watchdog issued new advice on Wednesday recommending heavy people be sent to free weight-loss classes to drop about 3 percent of their weight, reasoning that losing just a few pounds improves health and is more realistic. About two in three adults in the U.K. are overweight, making it the fattest country in Western Europe.

"This is not something where you can just wake up one morning and say, 'I am going to lose 10 pounds,'" said Mike Kelly, the agency's public health director, in a statement. "It takes resolve and it takes encouragement." End of article.

While in the midst of consuming mass quantities of food during the day every day for months and years at a time, consider those individuals who have not eaten. Consider the less fortunate adults who are unable to provide the daily caloric necessities for their children and therefore wonder if they have enough money to pay for the food their undernourished bodies desperately need.

After you have overindulged, remember those children here in the United States and world-wide who go about their day feeling hungry and weak because their bodies lack nourishment. Remember the same children who then go to bed on an empty stomach and get a poor night sleep because the hunger pangs are keeping from a quality sleep. And the scenario repeats daily.

Personal accountability is needed in addition to "it takes resolve and encouragement" in weight loss.

Being stick thin is not a requirement to living a healthy lifestyle. A fair amount of daily exercise and healthy food choices is all that is needed.

Consult with your doctor in making lifestyle changes for a healthy you.

Ice or heat? When to use which

Most people know that it is wise to apply one or the other. But which is best for the situation at hand? Ice or heat? And, for how long?

A common soft tissue injury is an ankle sprain. The best choice for this type of injury would be ice. A slush bucket would be ideal. A mixture of water and slush with a temperature reading between 33 and 45 degrees.  The affected ankle would be submerged in the slush bucket for approximately 15 minutes no longer than 20 minutes.
Keeping soft tissue at low temperature longer than 20 minutes will cause tissue death.  For an acute injury, such as an ankle sprain, it is best to treat the area for the first 72 hours with slush or ice 15-20 minutes every hour. The standard treatment for ankle sprain is rest, ice, compression and elevation to keep pain and swelling at a minimal.
Cold therapy in essence leads to decreased blood flow, decreased swelling and decreased pain.  The swelling of tissue causes increase pressure on the nerves which in turns causes pain.
When to use heat therapy.  Heat is the best  choice when treating stiff, tight muscles.  Heat is the preferred choice for back pain. Same time application applies to the use of heat. It is best not to use heat therapy while you sleep as the risk of burn is great.  If possible, place a protective layer between the skin and heat. Where applies, do the same for ice.  If you are a diabetic, care should be taken with areas of decreased sensation because it will be difficult to tell if a negative reaction occurs.
As always, please seek medical attention.
Good health,

Leaving you with not enough money to pay funeral expenses when the time comes. By proscratinating, you have gained nothing.

Estate planning is simple and easy to do. Just take the time and do it.

Heart Healthy Diet

The American Heart Association recommends to help lower cholesterol by implementing 3 very easy steps!

1. Change high-risk habits. High risk habits are just that. Habits that put you at an increased risk of suffering a cardiovascular event.
* Stop smoking. There are many, many resources available to aid in the cessation of smoking. It is highly likely for those people who have smoked for decades to quit. The first step to successfully help in quitting is you must want to quit. Discuss a stop smoking plan with your doctor.
* Limit alcohol consumption to just 1 per day. Avoid binge drinking. Not only does this stress your heart but also causes liver toxicity.

2. Daily exercise. Brisk walk on flat ground or trail walking will help strengthen the cardiovascular system.

3. Eat a heart healthy diet. This includes: choosing healthy fats such as, fish, lean meats and poultry without the skin. Grill, broil or poach meats. Cook with olive oil instead of butter. Avoid trans fats found in junk food. Junk food is called junk food because its junk. There are no health benefits in junk food.

4. Adding fiber to your diet will help regulate sugar levels, keep you fuller longer, and regulate colon health. Brown rice, whole wheat pasta, fruits and vegetables.

5. Foods rich in vitamins B, C, and E. Vitamins B and C are water soluble. Which means your body uses what it needs for the day and the remainder is voided in urine. Vitamin  is fat soluble. This means it is stored in fat cells. Your body will use as needed. Dark leafy green vegetables, almonds, all fruits, carrots, sweet potatoes, mangoes.

Limit salt intake. Choose naturally occurring low-sodium foods and refrain adding salt to your meals. There are salt alternatives available at your locol grocery store. Salt causes increased blood pressure and water retention. Blood pressure is a measure of how much pressure your blood vessels are under. The ideal time to measure for an accurate pressure is when your sitting and relaxed. Maintain a normo-tensive blood pressure around 120/80. Your doctor will consult with you what is the best systolic and diastolic pressure range for you.

Final Expense Insurance

Burial insurance, also known as final expense insurance is life insurance with a specific need: to cover funeral expenses. Policy face amounts typically start at $6,000.00 and can be written up to $25,000.00. Face amounts are customized to your needs. At the time of application, you can decide what is best for you and the face amount may be adjusted accordingly. Your policy will cover the extra incidental expenses associated with funerals. Typically, those incidental expenses are not considered until it is too late.

Final expense insurance is not just-in-case insurance as with health insurance, auto insurance, flood insurance, etc. Death is the final chapter in life. We don't know when death will call upon us. The likelihood of death happening is 100%. Preplanning alleviates loved ones of having to make difficult decisions or to face financial concerns during a very emotional time.

If you just don't want to think about death and have not come to terms about your own mortality, here is something to consider. Throughout your life you earn a modest wage to provide food, clothing, shelter and medicine for yourself and family. The cost of living has increased, you want to cut corners and consider not buying any more insurance. You might think it is burdensome. You might think it is worthless to you. When the day your life ceases to exist, your policy will come alive and get to work. Through your policy, your final expenses will be paid. Your policy will take away financial concerns. Your pre-planned policy will give you peace of mind and avoid any financial burden for those left behind.

Abdominal injuries can be life-threatening

Abdominal trauma is one of the most common causes of preventable trauma-related deaths.

The majority of abdominal injury is caused by blunt trauma. Blunt abdominal injury typically occurs when the abdomen is directly compressed by, or against, a fixed object. In many blunt trauma instances, the trauma may cause tears in the viscera of the solid organs, namely the spleen and liver. Other injuries may occur as the result of deceleration forces, which can cause tears in the fixed areas of the organs and the blood vessels, namely the liver and renal arteries. Blunt trauma may also cause ruptures in the hollow organs.

A person who sustained blunt trauma within the abdominal region, he or she may not show pronounced signs of the injury. In some instances, the individual may have little to no pain and will not show signs of the injury externally.

Seatbelts, car accidents, sports, hernias, direct abdominal muscle impact are all cause of abdominal trauma.

In many patients, organ damage, especially hemorrhage, may not become apparent for days or weeks. After this time, the patient may experience systematic dysfunction or organ failure. It is crucial those individuals who sustain extreme, direct impact to the abdominal region be examined thoroughly.

Abdominal trauma is complex in nature. The abdominal region is comprised of a number of organs,  solid and hollow, major arteries, vessels, and tissue. An injury can have an impact on a number of areas within the abdominal region, which poses a significant risk to the individual. It is imperative to seek medical treatment right away.

Be safe,

Understanding Asthma made simple

In healthy lungs, airways are wide open allowing the passage of air to move freely. The bronchioles are free of inflammation and the cells are free of pathology. Secretions that are naturally present are kept at minimal. Capillaries are functioning properly delivering nutrient rich blood and allowing the even exchange of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2).

In the asthmatic lung, there is an absence of a symbiotic environment. The pathophysiology present are inflammatory cells. These inflammatory cells create edema (swelling) and damage the airway and blood vessels. Edema causes increased mucus secretion within the airway and a decreased ability to transport the secretions from the airway. The blood vessels respond to the edema by becoming sluggish. In other words, the secretions are getting in but not coming out. Airways are small, even the largest of them, but they are designed to be free of obstructions so air may freely move in and out.

Soon after inflammation sets in, the sensory nerves located within the airway are triggered. This hyperactivity is manifested by a cough or a wheeze. There are many treatment choices available to you. Your doctor will design a treatment plan for your own individual situation.

Final Expense life insurance is proven invaluable

How will your family pay for your final expenses?
Accidents can happen any time. Catastrophic illnesses such as Cancer and cardiovascular disease are prevalent. Illness and accidents can change your life in a split second. Are you financially prepared to meet the demanding costs of health care and funeral expenses? The importance of preparing will provide peace of mind knowing there is a plan in place. Life insurance will cover the unpredictable and high expenses associated with end of life issues.

The time to buy life insurance is now. The younger you are the lower your premium. Today you are healthiest you will be. You are buying a financial plan that will provide asset protection for your family. If you have no spouse or children, you are still need life insurance. You are providing the finances needed to pay for final expenses generated by death. The world is nothing without free will. Everything must be carefully considered when financial responsibility is brought into question. It is whether you are willing to take those risks and use your individual situation to your own advantage.

We all have heard the tragic stories happening to people who experienced a sudden loss of a loved one and no life insurance was in force. The survivors are left with a major financial burden and many unanswered questions. Having a suitable plan in place will help your loved ones meet current financial obligations. Life insurance provides financial protection for them. You cannot be faulted for preparation.

It is important to do your research and decide which type of life insurance is suitable for you.  Each of us has our own situation that is different from our neighbors and friends. Only you know what goes on in your household. Keep in mind, what may be best for someone else does not necessarily mean that is the best thing for you. Which is why YOUR needs must considered when purchasing a policy.

So, why have life insurance?
Reason 1

Do you have any bills, a mortgage? This alone is a pertinent reason to have life insurance. This major bill will be paid off and not left to your survivors to deal with.

Reason 2

Young, fit and healthy? Then this is the best time to get life insurance. Your premium will be affordable and if you take out a policy that allows you to keep the same premium until the age of 65, you will have considerable savings... the earlier you start, the better. And then if you develop any health issues throughout your life, it doesn't matter, because you already have the policy in force.

Reason 3

Are you married? Do you have a domestic partner? Should you parish and leave no money behind to help cover bills, you now just placed a heavy financial burden on your loved ones. Adding financial stress to an emotional time could lead to further catastrophe.

 Reason 4.

Peace of mind. If you develop a terminal illness, your life insurance will pay out a lump sum upon confirmation from your treating physician. You will have the money to help get your affairs in order.

Life insurance premiums are easily calculated into your monthly expenses.
